My local Whole Foods tonight informed me that a recent policy change now REQUIRES that you use a new, clean plastic bag for every item you purchase from their bulk aisle. SO FRUSTRATING!!!

Yea, that is often a problem. That's too bad your garage isn't insulated. Freezing temperatures are bad for worms, it's true. They need a warm, ambient room temperature to be happy. And they don't like too many changes in temperature and humidity. I just re-started mine a few weeks ago and it's sitting in the garage. But I'm in Los Angeles, so it's always warm out here, so the garage is perfect for them. Let me know when you do start one!

Haha, that sounds great! Affirmations can be awkward, but the trick is to talk to yourself for a bit until you find the affirmation that "works for you". It can be too mystical to say something like "I AM love", but you could instead say something like "This situation is challenging, but I am totally capable of succeeding", adjusting that to fit your particular situation. Good luck!

Totally! I am on board with a holistic view of health and non-physical illness. If you don't eat healthy or get enough sleep, your brain can feel fuzzy and tired. Chronic joy - yea, that is a challenge. I write about what joy means to me and then try to capture it in my own life in bits and pieces. It is so strange that joy is a lost component of adulthood, and the greatest joy I can remember is from my childhood - infinite freedom to play, laugh, express myself creatively, and do whatever it is inspired me.

Awesome, another free-thinking scientist! It's wonderful to hear that you are raising your daughter under a positive mentality. I agree - positivity is something we need to be spreading. It opens up more options to life and makes it more fun and meaningful. Thanks for stopping by!

LOL! That is a hilarious story, thank you for sharing it. Singing litter bins - we could certainly use that in Los Angeles! There is so much trash and litter in Hollywood, it is really overwhelming. I wanted to pick up everything when I first got here, but it's not 100% my responsibility, so I do what I can and stay happy with that. Thanks for stopping by!

"Chronic joy", I love it! What a great concept. Now... how to achieve it... :)

The mind-body connection is so strong that it almost upsets me that traditional Western medicine ignores it. Or rather, mental/emotional issues fall under the responsibility of mental health practitioners, and medical doctors only deal with the physical. When will this change? When will we embrace a more holistic view of health and the non-physical determinants of illness?

I've found that affirmations feel a little awkward in my day-to-day, but somehow while practicing yoga, affirmations come naturally. Isn't that odd? I guess yoga is a form of self-love for me.
